Run with the Docs

Going the Extra Mile

Run with the Docs is a 5k run and 1-mile walk created in 2015 by a committee of caregivers who recognized the need for additional support for families who experience the tragedy of miscarriage or infant loss.

“The community’s outpouring of support has been tremendous,” says Ann Coyle, RN, manager of Virtua’s Perinatal Bereavement program. “It is so important that grieving patients and families get the right kind of support at the right time.”

Run with the Docs gets bigger and better every year, even during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the run took place virtually. And the impact on Virtua’s Perinatal Bereavement program is substantial: Since 2015, Run with the Docs has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, helping Virtua to ensure that families who experience loss have access to a multidisciplinary range of services, compassionate communication and care, financial assistance, and more.
