The 2018 Virtua Gala raised more than $1.1 million in benefit of Virtua’s new Family Health Center and the expansion of essential programs and services for the City of Camden. Currently under construction, the new Family Health Center is expected to open later this year.

“For more than a century, Virtua has been a reliable health provider for children and families in Camden, but we must do more,” said Dennis Pullin, president and CEO of Virtua. “The need for increased access to high quality care, as well as resources for basic necessities like fresh fruits and vegetables is critical.”

Through the $20 million Power to Heal fundraising campaign, Virtua is working to transform healthcare in Camden and across South Jersey. Virtua’s new Camden Family Health Center will provide a unique opportunity to further address the needs of patients and bring greater access to affordable, high quality primary, dental and specialty care.

This year’s Virtua Gala, presented for the third consecutive year by Brandywine Living, welcomed more than 1,000 attendees to the Borgata Casino & Spa in Atlantic City for a night of dining and dancing to 70’s and 80’s entertainer Kool & The Gang. Penn Medicine was a platinum sponsor of the event.

“We are truly grateful for our generous sponsors, guests, and all of our supporters who continue to help make an impact on the lives of those we are privileged to serve. It is because of their support that Virtua can continue to be a beacon of hope and healing for families in Camden,” said Christina Mattison, senior vice president of Virtua Foundation.

The pinnacle of the evening was the presentation of the Virtua Foundation Humanitarian Award. The Humanitarian Award honors an individual or organization that has made significant contributions to improve the health and well-being of families in our community. This year’s honoree, Richard Miller, was recognized for his leadership and commitment to improving healthcare across South Jersey during his 22 years as president and CEO of Virtua.

The Virtua Gala is Virtua Foundation’s premier fundraising event dedicated to transforming healthcare for children and families across South Jersey. For more information about the Power to Heal campaign or the Virtua Gala, visit www.Foundation.Virtua.org.
