With the help of our philanthropic partners, Virtua’s food access program has made a significant impact on the lives of thousands of families in our community. Since 2017, our Eat Well Mobile Farmers Market and Eat Well Food Pharmacies have become trusted resources that our community and patients have come to rely on. As the COVID-19 pandemic recently devastated our nation, the ability to access food has become an even greater challenge. In response, we quickly adapted our food programs to ensure that those in need can continue to receive healthy, quality food from a safe, reliable source while following guidelines for social distancing.
Together, we can create a healthier tomorrow! Now more than ever, we believe the launch of our new Eat Well Mobile Grocery Store will have tremendous impact in improving access to healthy, affordable food for people right here in South Jersey who are living in under-resourced areas known as food deserts. With its aisle of fully stocked shelves, coolers and freezers, this store on wheels will be light and bright, accessible (it has a wheelchair lift), and welcoming. Customers will be able to browse and shop with dignity, just as they would at any grocery store.
Putting a grocery store on wheels is a simple idea - and it has the potential to transform lives. We hope you will consider joining us in this exciting venture, and give our neighbors the chance to shop, eat, and thrive.
We are grateful to all the individuals, businesses, and community organizations who have joined us to support this exciting initiative. We are especially thankful to the following Founding Philanthropic Partners who have contributed $100,000 or more to our new Mobile Grocery Store.
