Honoring

Virtua Health is pleased to recognize Pepe Piperno as our 2021 Humanitarian of the Year for his unwavering commitment to improving the health and well-being of our neighbors in need. Humanitarian Award Honorees are trailblazers who transform healthcare or other community resources through extraordinary leadership, innovation and philanthropic support. Their compassion and generosity inspire others to participate, establishing a legacy that impacts families today and far into the future.

We are also pleased to recognize Dr. Martin Topiel with our first Achievement Award in Clinical Excellence for his steadfast commitment to clinical excellence and the lasting impact he has made at Virtua Health. As head of Infection Control at Virtua, Dr. Topiel led a critical role in guiding the organization through the challenges of COVID-19. From developing and leading safety and quality procedures and processes in the unknown medical environment, to launching innovative treatment and evaluation centers for patients, Dr. Topiel has served as a reassuring and steady leader in Virtua’s response to this public health crisis.
