The Auxiliary Board to Virtua Memorial is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to supporting Virtua Memorial, a regional medical center in Mount Holly, NJ, and the patients and families it serves through volunteerism, fundraising, advocacy and outreach. Serving as ambassadors in the community for more than 60 years, auxilians have established a legacy of service at Virtua that continues today.
The auxiliaries organize a variety of fundraising events open to the community, with proceeds directly benefiting programs and services at Virtua Memorial. Well known events include the annual Virtua Memorial Auxiliary 5k and 1-mile Fun Walk and the Cooks Tour of Moorestown.
The board is comprised of four member auxiliaries, located in the surrounding Burlington County communities served by the hospital. It also operates a thrift shop in Westampton, NJ that accepts donations of clothing and home goods.
To support renovations of the Oncology Infusion Center at Virtua Memorial. This facility is widely used by members of the community through the Virtua Fox Chase Cancer Program. These renovations are vital to providing a healing, comfortable environment for patients and their families. The auxiliary board has contributed more than $316,000 since fundraising for the project begin in 2013.

Originally entitled the Women's Auxiliary Board to Burlington County Memorial Hospital, the organization has been in operation for more than 60 years and became a legal nonprofit in 1981. The board later changed its name to the Auxiliary Board to Virtua Memorial to reflect the hospital's affiliation with Virtua in 1998.
For more than 130 years, families have entrusted their health to Virtua Memorial, a 433-bed, full service regional medical center in Mount Holly. Virtua Memorial is renowned for its advanced surgical and medical care including: stoke care, maternal/child health services, orthopedics, spine, cardiology and more.
The board is comprised of representatives from member auxiliaries, located in the surrounding Burlington County communities served by Virtua Memorial.
Curtis Auxiliary - Representing Moorestown, Cinnaminson, Pennsauken and Maple Shade, the auxiliary was founded in 1949 and continues to host its signature event in Moorestown, the annual Cooks Tour of Holiday Homes celebrating its 51st anniversary in 2014.
Mount Holly Auxiliary - Representing Mount Holly, Pemberton, Westampton, Lumberton and Hainesport, the auxiliary was founded in 1952 and celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2012.
Mount Laurel Auxiliary - Representing Mount Laurel, Maple Share and Masonville/Fellowship, the auxiliary was founded in 1984 and is well known at Virtua Memorial for its regular soft pretzel sales which benefit the hospital.
Pinelands Auxiliary - Representing Medford, Medford Lakes and Vincentown, the auxiliary was founded in 1977 and hosts events such as its annual auction which features unique household items, collectables and antiques.
The Virtua Memorial Thrift Shop has been serving the community for more than 40 years. While the store’s location has changed over time, its mission to support the life-saving care provided at Virtua Memorial has remained the same. It is estimated that the shop has helped the auxiliary to raise more than $440,000 to benefit Virtua Memorial in the past six years alone.
The Virtua Memorial Thrift Shop is a great place to find bargains year round. Clothing and accessories are available in men’s, women’s and children’s sizes and styles. It is also a great place to find unique and low cost seasonal merchandise and home décor.
The thrift shop is always looking for volunteers to help assist customers and process donations. If you are interested in volunteering, please email the manager. You can also call the shop during business hours.
The thrift shop accepts donations of a variety of items including new or gently worn clothing, jewelry, housewares, small furniture, antiques and collectibles and gift and decorative items. Please see the hours of operation for times donations are accepted. If you have items left over from a yard sale, donations can be made until 2:45 p.m. on Saturdays. Calling the store in advance is recommended, particularly if wish to donate larger items.
Due to storage limitations, the shop cannot accept large appliances, mattresses and box springs, lawn and garden equipment, barbecue grills, building materials, tires or items with storage odors. Click here to read the full donation guidelines.
